Give it a sum
It adds, subtracts and multiplies by writing out every column, carry and borrow, so you can check each step. Word problems get a short Thinking block first. Plain arithmetic is very reliable; tricky word problems are not.
Settings
Temperature 0 (greedy) is recommended: the working is a fixed routine, and sampling slips digits. A repetition penalty breaks it too, because sums repeat digits.
